Physical Therapy Aide
JOB SUMMARY
Functions primarily as a support system providing assistance to all levels of Therapy staff. Performs routine tasks related to the cleanliness of the department and maintenance of equipment. Assists in participant related activities such as transferring, transporting, and positioning of participants under the direction and supervision of therapy staff. Clerical duties and assistance with restorative therapy as needed. Orders, tracks and delivers durable medical equipment to BoldAge PACE participants and staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Properly transfers participant in and out of bed/chair. Utilizes proper body mechanics and precautions. Ensures safety with transfers by properly positioning furniture and participant devices such as IV's catheters etc. Returns equipment to proper order. Requests assistance when necessary to avoid injury to self or participant.
* Transports participants to and from the PM&R department by wheelchair or stretcher.
* Provides assistance to Therapists and Assistants during participant treatments including equipment set up, transfers and assisting with ambulation
* Takes work direction and is responsive to changes in schedule. Continuously communicates with PT and OT staff in a timely fashion when experiencing cancellations/refusals and delays.
* Responsible for the repair and proper operation of equipment. Maintains equipment in a safe working condition. Takes equipment out of service utilizes proper signage and reports to Manager equipment failure.
* Completes all documentation per department policy. Accurately completes participant schedules, transport lists and documents cancellations/refusals
* Participates in clerical activities, assists with scheduling of participants, and performs office procedures as required.
* Complies with the procedures for the maintenance of supplies and equipment.
* Assists with restorative therapy as appropriate under supervision of licensed clinical staff.
* Works with the BoldAge PACE Interdisciplinary team to ensure that participant's needs for durable medical equipment are met in a timely fashion.
* Serves as liaison between BoldAge PACE and medical equipment vendors to handle order tracking and communication of delays.
* In conjunction with the Physical Therapist researches alternative medical equipment options to provide recommendations to the Interdisciplinary Team.
REQUIREMENTS
* High School Diploma/GED required
* CNA or CHHA preferred
* 1 year of experience working with a frail or elderly population preferred. If this is not present, training on working with a frail or elderly population will be provided upon hiring.
* Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and the minimum state required liability auto insurance.
* Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct participant contact.
* Pass a comprehensive criminal background check that may include, but is not limited to, federal and state Medicare/Medicaid exclusion lists, criminal history, education verification, license verification, reference check, and drug screen.
