GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position works under the supervision of a Physical Therapist in providing routine physical therapy services to residents of the Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC) in Lander, including individuals who have intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injury, and mental health challenges.WLRC currently serves Wyoming residents in an Intermediate Care Facility and a newly constructed Skilled Nursing Facility - the first of its kind in the nation. WLRC is truly an extraordinary place with a rich history and a bright future!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

* Under the direction of a Physical Therapist, assess, design, plan, implement, and perform therapeutic programs, therapeutic positioning, and therapeutic equipment.

* Monitor and oversee therapeutic programs and exercises to achieve optimal results for residents served.

* Train and educate new and current staff in therapeutic skills and activities that support the established intervention plan, including on-the-job training.

* Document resident care services by charting in resident health and department records.

* Write and maintain progress notes.

* Provide verbal assessments and feedback to the Physical Therapist for written quarterly notes and yearly assessments.

* Develop and update training curriculum for new staff regarding therapeutic positioning and equipment.

* Attend Interdisciplinary Team meetings, individual program plan meetings, and medical appointments to address physical therapy concerns, as requested by the Physical Therapist.

* Attend agency and department meetings and training requested or assigned by the supervisor.

* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE:

* Knowledge of physical therapy practice, principles, and procedures.

* Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.

* Knowledge of kinesiology.

* Knowledge of therapeutic techniques.

* Knowledge of etiology patterns and treatment of diseases.

* Knowledge of treatment hazards and precautionary measures.

* Knowledge of restorative range of motion therapy.

* Knowledge of electrotherapy and hydrotherapy.

* Knowledge of basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

* Knowledge of physical therapy equipment's working functions.

* Knowledge of report preparation.

* Knowledge of anatomy, neuroanatomy, and the effects of therapeutic exercise.

* Knowledge of the clinical application of orthopedics.

* Knowledge of treatment hazards and precautionary measures.

* Ability to work with and around WLRC residents, including those who may display challenging behaviors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Associate degree (typically in Physical Therapy)

Experience:

0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Physical Therapy)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Licensure or eligible for licensure in the State of Wyoming as a Physical Therapist.

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

* Must be able to safely move (twisting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling), position, and lift people with multiple and severe disabilities.

* Ability to monitor sounds, noises, location of clients, etc. to assure safety and assess imminent danger and emerging concerns.

* Ability to use behavior management techniques and intervene during resident behavior episodes.

NOTES:

* FLSA: Exempt

* The Wyoming Life Resource Center participates in E-Verify. We will provide the Social Security Administration, and if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security, with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
