Job Description:Position Summary:The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to provide high-quality patient care and support in the rehabilitation process. The PTA plays a vital role in implementing treatment plans and assisting patients in achieving their physical therapy goals.Responsibilities:
- Assist licensed physical therapists in evaluating patient conditions, developing treatment plans, and tracking progress.
- Support the implementation of therapeutic exercises, activities, and modalities according to established treatment plans.
- Observe and document patients' responses to treatments, noting progress and making necessary adjustments under the guidance of the supervising physical therapist.
- Assist patients with mobility exercises, transfers, and gait training to improve motor function and enhance overall physical well-being.
- Educate patients and their families on proper techniques for exercises and activities to be performed both in the clinic and at home.
- Administer modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation as directed by the physical therapist.
- Maintain a clean and organized treatment environment, ensuring all equipment is in proper working condition.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date patient records, treatment plans, and progress reports in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with the physical therapy team to discuss patient progress, treatment adjustments, and any potential challenges.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional growth by staying informed about the latest trends and developments in physical therapy.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assisting or a related field from an accredited program.
- Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
