Physical Therapy Assistant
Department: Physical Therapy
Educational/Professional Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited program for physical therapist assistants
Current licensure as a physical therapist assistant by the Pennsylvania Board of Licensure
Reports to: Immediate supervisor: Senior Physical Therapist, Director of Physical Rehabilitation
Hours: 20-40 hours weekly
Job Summary:
Adheres to professional, ethical and legal standards of practice
Participates with physical therapist in developing individual treatment programs
Administers a variety of exercises and interventions
Observes and records the effectiveness of intervention, and document clients progress
Proposes modification of specific intervention procedures to physical therapist
Confers with physical therapist, therapeutic staff, consultants, and community service coordinators to implement client programs
Coordinates treatment schedule with therapists
Explains treatment techniques to clients and direct care staff
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of physical therapy principles, theory, methods and their application in an community based environment
Skill in providing a variety of interventions
Skill in effective oral and written communication
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records
Knowledge of areas of practice specific to traumatic brain injury
