- Education: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Personal Job-Related Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Licensure, Registry or Certification: Texas Physical Therapy Assistant License.
- Prior Work Experience: One year experience as a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant preferred.
- Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require extended periods of standing and walking. Repeated bending, stooping and reaching. Pushing and pulling up to 300 pounds and carrying up to 50 pounds. Lifting up to 50 pounds and heavier lifting in transferring or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.
RequirementsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:A. Under the supervision of Physical Therapist, administers physical therapy treatment as directed by a physician.1. Performs treatments on patients at the scheduled time. 2. Instructs and prepares the patient for the treatment. 3. Applies the appropriate physical agents, therapeutic exercises and ambulatory procedures, and informs the patient of the treatment process. 4. Monitors patients during treatments. 5. Records patient treatments on charts and provides information to the supervisor, Director, and physicians. 6. Transports patients to and from physical therapy as directed. 7. Provides care appropriate for the neonate and the pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients served based on demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. 8. Assesses and interprets data on neonate and the pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients' status to identify patients' requirements relative to their age-specific needs and provides care needed as stipulated in departmental policy. B. Maintains records associated with patient treatments.1. Records treatment results and progress notes in patient charts. 2. Provides information to supervisor as directed. 3. Assists in maintaining logs, charge tickets, and reports. 4. Reports the effectiveness of the treatment given and modifies treatment to achieve goals. 5. Provides education to the patient, family caregiver, or significant other. C. Maintains supplies and equipment.1. Monitors stock levels and orders supplies as needed. 2. Assists with the maintenance of equipment. 3. Cleans equipment and returns it to storage area if appropriate. OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS:A. Maintains HIPAA required and all other confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis. B. Provides service direct to patients while maintaining a positive patient relations atmosphere. C. Follows aseptic procedures and procedures for using precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handling potentially infectious materials. D. Follows safety guideline and policies for the Hospital District.
