Job Summary:
The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) employed by EHS provides selected medical/surgical services within the specialty of cardiovascular medicine and any others as defined by the Collaborative agreement the PA has with the collaborating physician. The services delegated to the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) will be an extension of the Cardiology and CT surgery faculty's patient management. Services rendered by the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) must be provided under the supervision, direction, and ultimate responsibility of a licensed Cardiologist and/or CT Surgeon. The Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The Cardiovascular Intensive Care PA-C will assist with the planning, implementing and evaluating the plan of care for pre and post cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients. Management includes but is not limited to, performing history and physical examination, ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests and administering of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies in a cost efficient manner. The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) will function in collaboration with the multidisciplinary cardiothoracic and vascular team and provide consultation and education to patients, families, and members of the multidisciplinary teams. Additionally, the PA-C must identify opportunities for and contribute to the improvement of quality, safety, and cost, as well as patient and customer satisfaction.

Graduate of Master's degree Physician Assistant program.

Required:
A minimum of two years of experience in an intensive care setting
Preferred:
One year of experience in a cardiothoracic intensive care setting.

Required:
Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Tennessee. BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward. Current ACLS.

* Ability to perform bedside procedures including but not limited to-
* IABP removal
* arterial line insertion and removal
* Intubation
* central line insertion
* chest tube placement and removal
* wound vac placement and changes
* cardioversions
* ECMO cannulations
* Open chest first assistant/ utilization of cart during ECPR
* PleurX catheter placement, drainage, and removal
* Perform Swan Ganz catheter placement and PA wedge pressure procedure
* All aspects of cardiothoracic surgery to include vein harvesting and the following surgical procedures:
* CABG's
* Aortic Valve Replacements
* Ascending Aortic Aneurysm Repairs and Replacements
* Mitral Valve Repair with Ring Placements
* Mitral Valve Replacements
* Type A dissections
* Convergent Procedures
* MAZE procedures
* Left Atrial Appendage ligations and Clip placements
* Robotic Mid CAB
* Robotic Mitral Valve repairs
* Thoracic Surgery procedures including but not limited to: lung biopsies , VATS procedures, Lobectomy's, pneumonectomy's, foregut procedures including esophagostomy's'
* Mandatory cardiac on-call including but not limited to- outpatient care management, ICU and cardiac step down acuity
* Mandatory weekend additional shift coverage that includes patient care rounds, management, education, and discharge processes
