NMMC Orthopaedic Trauma Program

Come join a fast-paced Orthopaedic Trauma Program at NMMC. NMMC is a Level II trauma center located in Tupelo, MS. Job includes full spectrum patient care including preoperative evaluations, postoperative care, ER consults, daily rounds, assisting in OR, and clinic visits. Candidate would be joining the team consisting of three orthopaedic surgeons and two physician assistants. Join the team that treats and cares for north Mississippi and surrounding areas orthopaedic trauma-related injuries.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with surgeons, splitting their time between the operating room, emergency room, floor, and clinic.
  • Provides professional medical services to new and established patients under the supervision of the physician.
  • Ensures timely and accurate (as established by policy) system documentation of patient status and patient care activities including treatments, procedures, and medications prescribed.
  • Demonstrates up-to-date medical knowledge and technical ability when delivering patient care.
  • Manages patient workflow effectively and efficiently in a professional.
  • Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative health care services in accordance with Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure (MSBML), approved protocols, and national standards of practice.
  • Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
  • Dictates history and physicals, discharge summaries, and other hospital notes.
  • Orders, prescribes, dispenses, and administers medications, and durable medical equipment as needed within scope of practice.
  • Possesses ability to work independently and display teamwork qualities among peers and other department personnel.
  • Adheres to NMHS/NMMCI Policies/Procedures/Guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in health-related or science field; required
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program; required
  • Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA); required
  • Licensed by the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure as a Physician Assistant; required
  • Certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) in CPR; required
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication (written and verbal) skills; required
