DescriptionMaineHealth Stephens Hospital and MaineHealth Western Maine Mountain Clinic are seeking a patient centered, respectful, flexible, and detail-oriented Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work per diem in our clinic located in the base lodge at Sunday River Ski Area in Newry, Maine.The clinic is staffed by a single NP or PA medical provider plus a RN, imaging tech , and clinic manger. Physician backup is available by phone through the MaineHealth Stephens Hospital Emergency Department. Ambulance transfers are readily available via PACE paramedic service.Hours: The clinic is open during regular daytime hours, generally 8-4:30, 7 days a week, including holidays, during the ski season from late November to early April.Skills required:Evaluation and treatment of injured skiers and snowboarders.Ordering and interpretation of plain film radiographsTreatment of common fractures and dislocations, including appropriate reduction and immobilization.Assistance with triaging of injured skiers and snowboarders who present to the Sunday River Ski Patrol.Transfer of patients whose injuries are more severe, or more potentially severe, and who may require additional evaluation or treatment beyond the capabilities of the clinic and its staff.Evaluation, treatment, and follow up of injured employees and workers at Sunday River Ski Resort. The clinic also provides limited vaccine services to Sunday River employees.Evaluation and treatment of patients with minor episodic illness such as upper respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, pharyngitis, and otitis.Administration of appropriate analgesia (including both parenteral, intranasal, and oral medications).Lacerations, except those requiring extensive or cosmetic repair, may be sutured.Initial treatment and preparation for transfer of medical emergencies and cardiac arrests. A code card with ACLS drug box, defibrillator, and airway management tools will be available.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and successful completion of accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program.Current license issued by the State of Maine or eligible for licensure .Experience in emergency medicine preferred, not required.Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.Proficient computer skills.Ability to maintain confidentialityCurrent DEA registration and ACLSAdditional InformationMaineHealth is a not-for-profit integrated health system whose vision is, Working together so our communities are the healthiest in America.
