Position Details:

St. Vincents Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their Orthopaedic Surgery team! Working alongside eleven skilled Orthopaedic Advanced Practitioners (APPs), your responsibilities would include frequent first-assisting in the OR, covering the ER, consults, and floor. Further your career by joining our established and growing Orthopaedic Surgery team!

Role: Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Location: 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport, 06606

Setting: Inpatient, orthopaedic surgery

Schedule: Full-time, three 13-hour shifts. Flexible schedule.

Call schedule: No call

Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants Role Scope:

Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.

Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the providers practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
• Training: Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
• RNFA required for Nurse Practitioners
• Experience: 2+ years experience in surgery
• Experience first-assisting in orthopaedic surgery highly preferred
