This role has dynamic hours and will provide comprehensive outpatient consultations, with procedure time and inpatient consultative services at the hospital's main campus in Miami. The NCPS Section of Gastroenterology is dedicated to the treatment of a wide variety of gastrointestinal problems in children and adolescents. The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center provides comprehensive support for children and young adults with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, while the Gastrointestinal (GI) Center offers nutritional assessment for overweight children and those with dietary restrictions.

The position is primarily clinical, related to the diagnosis, treatment, and clinical management of pediatric patients in a multidisciplinary environment that includes physicians, nurses, and social workers. The position offers exposure to a mix of general and high acuity pediatric patients and includes teaching and supervision of medical residents.

Job Specific Duties

• Applies knowledge of growth and development in customer interactions and treatment.
• Actively self-educates (i.e., reading journals, CME credits, NCH conferences).
• Coordinates and delivers monthly inservices to meet staff and resident development needs.
• Coordinates follow-up of tests, lab studies, and patient follow-up phone calls.
• Provides clinical services to patients including performing and recording history and physical examinations, developing and documenting a treatment plan, and administering medications as required.
• Participates in Performance Improvement, Research, and Publishing.
• Participates in teaching medical students and residents.
• Participates in the call schedule as assigned.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited medical school.
• Current state medical license in good standing.
• American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
