Maryland Oncology Hematology is dedicated to providing the most advanced cancer care available anywhere in an atmosphere of caring compassion. We have over 15 convenient locations throughout Maryland and in DC.

Responsibilities

* Provides clinical instructions for physics, dosimetry, radiation therapists and other clinical staff as assigned.

* Responsible for providing all services in an efficient, high-quality, cost-effective manner within budget allocation.

* Works with the Chief, Radiation Oncology and Chief, Therapeutic and Diagnostic Imaging Service and other staff as appropriate, supports operations issues/problems resolution in a logical, step wise fashion.

* Participates in a forum in which staff identifies, communicates, and resolves issues related to Radiation Oncology Section, Medical Center ancillary and support operations.

* Responsible for implementing the goal of improving care for patients

* Has basic understanding of managed care practices, including health care finance, billing, coding and documentation.

* Knowledge, ability and willingness to use and promote the dissemination among clinical staff of current automated technology for Health Information Management Sections (HIMS), patient data tracking, patient orders, etc.

* Participates in local administrative, management, quality assurance, and other assignments, meetings, or committees.

* Provides direct patient care as in outpatient clinics and/or inpatient services and will participate in the Radiation Oncology Section on call schedule.

* Participates in regular peer review activities.

* Maintains patient records and files. Follows HIPPA guidelines regarding patient information.

* Ensures timely completion of daily clinic notes with accurate documentation and coding of services rendered.

* Practices radiation safety to reduce exposure to patients, staff, and self, in compliance with department and VA radiation safety procedures to maintain occupational exposures as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).

* Provides patients with accurate and compassionate treatment.

* Follows established safety practices and reports as promptly as possible to unsafe conditions, unsafe practices or any occupational illness or injury sustained. Adheres to all safety and health standards regulations, work practices and uses proper protective equipment as required.

* Participates in quality assurance (QA) activities to include and provide data collection, data analysis, and trends and reports on changes based on data collection.

* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

* Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

* Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in District of Columbia

* Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), b) OR (2) Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA),
