Job Description:

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek an academic Rheumatologist to join the Division of Rheumatology and Immunology. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position OverviewThe Division of Rheumatology and Immunology in the Department of Internal Medicine has a dynamic opportunity for an academic rheumatologist to help meet the needs of an expanding outpatient multidisciplinary clinic network. The primary responsibilities are providing patient care in the general rheumatology clinic, outpatient procedures, and inpatient consultation. In addition to patient care, the selected candidate will participate in the teaching and training of students, residents, and rheumatology fellows, and will have research opportunities in clinical trials.

The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic division, department, and medical center experiencing considerable growth in the clinical and academic missions. Faculty rank and financial compensation are commensurate with experience and credentials.

Faculty Defined

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - faculty positions within the university that are not tenure track and not eligible for tenure, on a fixed term contract. Persons with the title of professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical, assistant professor-clinical and instructor-clinical. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty department and, as appropriate, regional campus; Clinical faculty are teachers/practitioners and will be engaged primarily in teaching activities. These faculty normally have earned a doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field or equivalent experience.

Tenured faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member's tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service, and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned a doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possess equivalent experience.
