Role and Responsibilities
The Pilates Reformer Instructor is responsible for teaching and coaching groups or individuals in the fitness program referred to as Pilates. An instructor helps his students use Pilates to promote overall health, improve muscle tone and strength, and achieve better posture.
Specific Responsibilities
Essential Functions
* The Pilates Reformer Instructor is to provide quality Pilates Instruction and service to all clients.
* The Pilates Reformer Instructor is to be available to all clients if not involved in a 1-on-1 session or doing specific administrative tasks.
* Assist members in using safe and effective exercise forms during their Workouts.
* Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistance
* Work as a TEAM with all other departments
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
Other Functions
* Support, teach, and encourage members to meet their fitness goals.
* To be actively involved in promoting the Pilates studio.
* The studio equipment is to be cleaned and checked for safety once a week.
* Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active Wellness
* Promote club services and activities
* Perform routine maintenance of equipment
* Assist with keeping the club well stocked and clean
* Attend Active Wellness site meetings and training
* Handle injury and illness and security incident reporting
Qualifications
Qualifications and Education Requirements
* Requires a pleasant personality and good communication skills, as instructors have to spend a good deal with other people and convey instructions clearly. Likewise, they heed a talent for motivating others and showing their own passion for physical fitness.
* AA degree is preferred but not required
* Group Exercise experience is preferred but not required
* 1-2 years of experience is preferred
* Pilates Certification (Reformer)
* Must be qualified in Pilates equipment
* Must be detail-oriented, organized, and highly responsive with a commitment to customer service
* Strong verbal communication skills
* Basic computer skills, customer service skills, results-oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industry
* AED/CPR/First Aid Certified
* Proof of citizenship or legal status
Physical and Working Conditions
* Ability to take the responsibility for the health and safety of others
* Ability to stand for several hours in the same shift; ability to lift 25 lbs
* Fitness club environment
* Must follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards
