**Key Responsibilities**

Monitor and operate chemical processes and plant utilities under the direction of chemical engineer. Work includes movement of bulk quantities of chemicals, start-up and standard operation of pilot scale equipment, following operating procedures and use of PPE. Perform troubleshooting on large scale equipment. Run analytical samples including GC and wet chemistry.

Requires education and/or experience in chemical plant processes such as: reactions, distillations, filtrations, neutralizations, and handling of highly hazardous materials. Requires education and/or experience in typical chemical plant equipment including: Piping, valves, pumps, tubing, instruments, high pressure and low vacuum equipment, glass and polymer lined equipment, vacuum systems, and various filtration equipment. Must have good mechanical aptitude in order to understand and troubleshoot the various processes and equipment described above. Must demonstrate ability to learn and use analytical equipment needed in support of processes including Gas-chromatograph and other laboratory instruments. Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and computer-based process control systems is preferred.

Physical requirements: Must be able to move up to 600 pound drums and 250 pound gas cylinders utilizing appropriate handling equipment, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and scaffolding, wear required PPE and respiratory equipment as directed, and work rotating shifts to support 24 hour operations both 5 and 7 days per week.

**YOU MUST HAVE**

* Minimum of a two-year technology degree in field, or a minimum of 5 years of chemical plant operating experience

**WE VALUE**

* Basic arithmetic skills, plus scientific notation, exponents, fractions, and decimals

* Working knowledge of Windows XP operating system, Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and computerized process control software is preferred.

* Outstanding collaboration and interpersonal skills

* Knowledge of work safety procedures

* Flexibility to work in an R&D facility

* Creative problem-solving

* Understanding of chemistry and chemical processes related to: catalytic reactions, distillations, neutralizations, and handling highly hazardous materials.
