If you enjoy working both indoors and outdoors this might be the position for you! As the outreach arm of our state's land grant, South Dakota State University, SDSU Extension is able to provide farmers, ranchers, agri-business people, communities, families and youth with the research-based information they need to succeed. SDSU Extension meets the changing needs of South Dakotans with progressive outreach services, ranging from one-on-one interaction and forums to 24/7 online access through our website, extension.sdstate.edu. SDSU Extension organizes program outreach across 4 program areas: Agriculture and Natural Resources, Food & Families, Community Vitality and 4-H Youth Development. Job Responsibilities: Clean the office building (sweeping, mopping, emptying trash cans, hauling trash to the dump ground once per week or as needed). Seasonal grounds keeping to include mowing & weed trimming around the office building and AgrAbility Demonstration Grounds. Watering the garden and hoop houses once planted during the growing season. Some weeding of garden beds. Moving snow in the winter months for the SDSU Extension Office parking lot and shoveling around entrances. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of: • General construction • Motors • Experience operating a small utility tractor and snow blower Skill & Ability to: • Lift and carry 60 pounds. • Organize work to meet deadlines • Adapt schedule based on project needs • Work independently and as a team member • Communicate and work effectively with co-workers Comments: This position is classified as a Grounds Keeper.
