Description of Job This position will report to the Colorado State University Pueblo Mechanical Supervisor (Pipe Mechanical III). This class describes the fully operational level. Position operates independently in performing the full range of mechanical tasks and related problem solving. The assignment is clearly defined so the position follows established work procedures. Position operates within standard guidelines and alternatives that are known and any deviation from such require prior approval. Judgment is used to select the most appropriate guidelines and adapt them to accomplish the tasks. Many assignments do not move beyond this level. Position controls the environment in state buildings by maintaining heating and air conditioning systems as well as plumbing by cleaning, adjusting, repairing, replacing, and installing equipment. This may include: chillers, cooling towers, pumps, piping systems, air handling units, air conditioning equipment, freezers, and refrigerators. As part of the preventive maintenance program, Employee will maintain, repair and replace thermostats, pressure-limiting devices, valves, motors, pumps, compressors, starters, coils, belts, bearings, pulleys, dampers, exhaust fans, VAV devices, and other related mechanical system components. Employee will also complete all assigned safety training as well as other training assigned by the University in a timely manner to ensure duties are completed safely and competently. Perform reactive maintenance on HVAC and plumbing Employee will respond to reactive maintenance work orders as assigned by the Mechanical Supervisor.
