This role is critical in estimating project costs, preparing bids, and managing budgets for mechanical construction projects, with a specific focus on refrigeration and pipe welding. The ideal candidate will analyze project plans, perform takeoffs, source materials, and collaborate with project managers and subcontractors to ensure accurate and competitive pricing for each project.Who we are: Mr. Ammonia Refrigeration Inc. is an industry leader specializing in industrial ammonia refrigeration systems with over 40 years of expertise.   • Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical construction and pipe welding projects.
  • Analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications to determine material and labor requirements.
  • Perform accurate takeoffs and source pricing for materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather relevant project details.
  • Develop and submit competitive project bids and proposals.
  • Monitor project budgets, ensuring costs remain within estimates.
  • Adjust and revise estimates as needed based on project scope changes.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors to secure optimal pricing for materials and services.
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to streamline the estimating process.
  • Provide support to project management teams in project execution and cost management.
The ideal candidate should possess:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in refrigeration, welding, or mechanical construction estimating.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical construction practices and estimating principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans, drawings, and refrigeration manuals.
  • Experience in conducting accurate takeoffs and cost estimates.
  • Proficiency in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD drafting is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently or with limited instruction.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel daily within a 2-3 hour radius of Columbus and be on call as required.
  • Physically capable of climbing ladders, working at high elevations, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred.
