VideosDuties Utilize electronic welding machine to complete work orders. Perform repairs on high and low pressure steam systems, auxiliary equipment and plumbing equipment for final inspection. Perform preventive maintenance on pipefitting systems to ensure compliance. Perform plumbing install, fabrication, and construction to ensure maintenance compliance. RequirementsConditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System. Must obtain and maintain a Personnel Background Investigation (NACI). Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator's Driver's License (20,000 lbs). This position requires the incumbent to be able to distinguish basic colors. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Pipefitter (Direct Hiring Authority) ~ without more than normal supervision to include performing preventive maintenance on pipefitting systems to ensure systems are in compliance with installation regulations and diagnosing pipefitting malfunctions in order to replace pipes, fittings, connections, valves and controls. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.Physical Effort-Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms and where the systems aid equipment worked on are in hard to reach places. Required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently handles, lifts, carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Occasionally may lift and carry items that weigh over 50pounds.Working Conditions-Work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. Sometimes required to make installation and repairs in areas where bad smelling fumes are present. Frequently exposed to the possibility of uncomfortable heat conditions. Frequently exposed to the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and infections. Occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
