We seeking a Pipefitters to work in Austin, Texas at the Tesla Gigafactory.
Duties/Responsibilities: - Plans, prepares, installs, and maintains piping and plumbing systems composed of various materials; systems may include pipes, pressure and vacuum gauges, pipeline filters, steam traps, and strainer valves.
- Consults blueprints, work orders, schematics, or instructions; creates working procedures based on specifications.
- Gathers equipment and materials for the job.
- Welds, cuts, bends, threads, solders, and fits pipes.
- Attaches pipes and piping systems to walls using brackets, bracket systems, or clamps; cuts or boreholes prior to the project.
- Installs various types of insulation and pipe covering; safely removes and properly discards old coverings according to hazardous waste procedures and EPA and OSHA requirements.
- Inspects pipes, testing for pressure and leaks; reports and/or resolves problems.
- Coordinates with the manager to schedule machinery maintenance, repairs, and installation to minimize disruption to operations.
- Complies with applicable safety and building codes, regulations, and best practices.
- Maintains records, including safety logs and inspection details.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities: - Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
- Ability to use various tools, including blowtorches, saws, pipe benders, and welding torches.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Education and Experience:
- Successful completion of a four-year apprenticeship that included classroom and on-the-job instruction in pipefitting or related field.
- Valid state license.
