This ideal candidate will be a pipefitter, proficient in pipe fitting with the ability or knowledge to weld.Past experience in HVAC systems, Equipment, Installs, Cooling towers, Boilers, air Handler units, pumps, heat exchanges ETC.This position is with the LOCAL 602! our operating areas are DC and VA areas! Location: DC / Virigina! Type: Full time permanent employment! Pay: $46.21 Per hour + Excellent benefits in the 602 union! Duties:
- Plan, lay-out, install, test and repair all types of piping systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards.
- Reading isometric drawings, taking measurements, fabricating and installing piping efficiently
- Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications by welding and threading joints
- Position and secure materials and workpieces during installation; and install all other items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications
- Distinguish varying thickness and types of metal materials
- Manually handle and securely apply rigging equipment
- Operate tools and equipment including beveling machines, cut-off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, and a bandsaw
- Hydro test piping systems
- Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ yrs. experience in pipefitting
- Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
- Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools Requirements - Able to meet all physical requirements.
- Familiar with HVAC systems, equipment and installs. Such as chillers, cooling towers, boilers, air handling units, pumps, heat exchangers, fan coil units etc.
- Clean driving record
- Clean criminal record
- Ability to be responsible for starting and finishing a job.
- Ability to make a material list from job drawings or site survey.
- Ability to install various types of pipe , various sizes (fit weld pipe , copper pipe , cut and thread black pipe , pvc
- Certified welder would be a plus but not deal breaker
- Previous Rigging experience
Requirements:
- Stick Welding Certification
- Mig / Tig Certification preferred but not required.
- Valid Drivers License in good standing.
- Ability to pass a detailed background check for government facilities
- Ability to pass drug screen
