About Sunset Valley Construction

We are an excavation contractor that lays the groundwork to develop and maintain the societal infrastructure that helps sustain everyday life as we know it.

How youll get to help us do that

Assist with the excavation, grading, movement, and shaping of earth, and the placement of underground utilities, to prepare land for essential infrastructure, transportation, and vital services.

What youll get to do

  • Clear land and prepare sites with a stable foundation for further construction, such as new schools, apartment buildings, roads, subdivisions, infrastructure rebuilds, and warehouses up to 50K sq ft
  • Excavate earth by removing soil and placing utility lines
  • Shape and contour landscapes to sculpt for road construction, building sites, or outdoor spaces
  • Establish proper drainage to direct water flow and prevent flooding or erosion
  • While using hand tools on the job, get paid to learn how to operate heavy equipment (excavators, skid steers, and dozers)
  • Remain local, working in the greater Hartford area (within 1 hour of Ellington)
  • Work alongside a highly-skilled team committed to keeping you safe and helping you succeed and grow

What you bring to the role

  • At least 2 years experience in construction, farming, or landscaping
  • You like working with your hands out in the fresh air
  • No issue can stop you. You love figuring out how to overcome challenges.
  • You work with your head on a swivel, constantly looking out for the safety of your co-workers, and have the courage to speak out when conditions are not safe
  • You have a strong sense of pride in your quality of work and constantly seek ways to make things more efficient
  • You're adaptable to the changing demands of a construction site

Even better (but not required) if you have

  • Experience in sitework, excavation, grading, and/or pipelaying
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and know how to fix stuff
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • CDL
