Job Summary
The Pizza Chef will prepare and cook a variety of pizzas to perfection, consistently delivering delicious and authentic Italian flavors that delight our customers. This individual will work closely with the culinary team to ensure the quality and presentation of our pizzas meet our standards of excellence.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepares pizza dough, sauces, and toppings according to established recipes and procedures.
- Stretches and shapes pizza dough by hand or with a rolling pin to achieve the desired thickness and shape.
- Applies sauces, cheeses, and toppings in appropriate quantities and arrangements to ensure even distribution and balanced flavors.
- Cooks pizzas in a wood-fired oven or conventional oven, monitoring cooking times and temperatures to achieve optimal results.
- Collaborates with the culinary team to develop new pizza recipes and seasonal specials that showcase innovative flavors and ingredients.
- Experiments with different dough formulations, sauces, and toppings to create unique and memorable pizzas that set us apart from the competition.
- Ensures consistency in portion sizes, presentation, and flavor profiles across all pizza offerings.
- Maintains high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation, conducting regular inspections of pizza ingredients and finished products.
- Addresses any issues or concerns regarding food quality or preparation techniques promptly and effectively.
- Monitors inventory levels of pizza ingredients and supplies, communicating with management to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Follows proper hygiene and handwashing procedures.
- Ensures prompt and accurate fulfillment of customer orders, coordinating with kitchen staff and front-of-house team members as needed.
- Handles customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints courteously and professionally, striving to exceed customer expectations with every pizza served.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong culinary skills and a passion for Italian cuisine, particularly pizza making.
- Knowledge of traditional pizza dough formulations, baking techniques, and flavor combinations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, maintaining composure under pressure during peak service times.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality and consistency.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Pizza Chef or similar role in a restaurant or food service establishment, with a focus on handcrafted pizza.
Physical Requirements:
- This role requires frequent mobility within the kitchen area, including moving between workstations, reaching for ingredients, and stretching pizza dough. The ability to stand and walk for extended periods is essential.
- Must be able to lift, bend, and stoop comfortably.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent manual dexterity is necessary for tasks such as shaping pizza dough, spreading sauce, and arranging toppings. The Pizza Chef should have strong hand-eye coordination and the ability to handle kitchen tools and equipment with precision.
Pay Range: USD $21.00 - USD $28.00 /Hr.
