Salary: $49.66 - $54.82 HourlyLocation : Hutto, TXJob Type: Full TimeDepartment: EngineeringOpening Date: 12/03/2024Closing Date: 1/3/2025 5:59 PM CentralFLSA: ExemptPosition Overview Title: Plan Review Engineer Department: EngineeringStatus: Full-TimeFLSA: ExemptPOSITION OVERVIEW Under the general supervision of the City Engineer, this position will perform engineering work related to the review, construction, investigation, development, and design of engineering projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Reviews plans and specifications submitted by developers to ensure that they are in compliance with the City development codes and ordinances
  • Engages in engineering research, prepares engineering reports, makes computations, and makes time and material estimates
  • Confers with and advises inspectors of construction projects and conducts inspections of projects during construction. Participates in reaching decisions as to necessary field changes
  • Performs investigative work related to engineering activities
  • Prepares reports to the Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council including preliminary plats, final plats, and other development related submittals
  • Works on special projects and reports for the Engineering Department
  • Utilizes technology including but not limited to: Microsoft365 and Blue Beam
  • Assists with tracking and managing multiple initiatives and projects for the City Engineer and the engineering team
  • Ensures prompt responses to internal and external personnel
  • Manages incoming and outgoing correspondence, including but not limited to, Service Extension Requests, Master Applications, Traffic Impact Analysis scopes, and Subdivision Construction items
  • Maintains discretion and confidentiality of information in relationships with internal and external customers
  • Handles materials for project close-out and prepares records for archive
  • Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of civil engineering processes
  • Knowledge of industry standard computer programs (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, EPA SWMM, StormCAD, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, ordinances, codes that govern construction
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external personnel
  • Skilled in verbal and written communication
  • Skilled in handling and prioritizing tasks
  • Skilled in project management
  • Skilled in developing workable implementation plans; communicates changes effectively
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents
  • Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints
  • Ability to offer excellent customer service skills, possess interpersonal skills, tactful in dealings with stakeholders and co-workers.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering Four (4) years of related engineering experience Texas Professional Engineer (PE) License, or the ability to obtain by reciprocity within six (6) months of date of hire Valid Texas Driver's License PHYSICAL DEMANDSDepending on assignment, this position will typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions and is predominantly sedentary. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
