It's kind of a big deal!ABOUT THE JOBSUMMARYThe Planner/Buyer position is responsible for issuing purchase orders, create item master set-up, conducting requests for quotation, working with overseas entities to ensure timely receipt of product, demand forecasting, coordinating freight, and inventory management.*This hybrid position works onsite in our Hudsonville location at least three days per week.CORE DUTIESPurchasing
  • Issue Purchase Orders for finished goods and component inventory maintaining proper inventory levels.
  • Purchase supplies and services related to operations and facilities.
  • Maintain proper levels of operating supplies while minimizing expenditures including the submittal of request for quotations (RFQ).
  • Establish and maintain domestic and international relationships on an on-going basis.
  • Maintain daily communications with overseas office regarding product ordering, availability, shipment timing and transportation.
  • Monitor and establish domestic transportation contracts, rates and compliance.
  • Initiate and follow up regarding any vendor issues.
  • Execute timely and accurate purchasing network.
  • Maintain demand forecast data including sales forecast changes, pricing revisions, min and max order qty's and due date revisions.
  • Maintain proper mode selection for inbound shipments balancing freight cost and priority.
  • Coordinate billable inbound air freight, samples and tooling for billing back customers as required.
  • Coordinate customer demand with third-party suppliers.
  • Attainment of SDS sheets as required from vendors.
Inventory
  • Maintain and adjust inventory reorder points to maximize inventory turns and minimizing inventory valuation while matching customer demand.
  • Identify obsolete and overstock inventory, working with Sales and product development to eliminate inventory.
  • Assist in the accuracy of inventory valuation and physical counts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate input of inventory transactions into the application software.
  • Maintain item master elements and item classification within the business application software.
  • Research and approve price change notices as required.
  • Coordinate movement of goods to proper facility to meet shipping demand.
  • Secure product and facilities.
Other
  • Continue training, education and assessments on services and equipment.
  • Continuous improvement of procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management or equivalent.
  • Three to five years (3-5) years experience in purchasing and/or inventory management preferred.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power point, Outlook, Teams).
  • Patience, good listening, and comprehension skills necessary to make critical decisions.
  • Excellent telephone, written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to determine resolutions or approaches to manage issues.
  • Must be able to work well with others across a broad spectrum of education and experience levels.
  • Infor Syteline Experience a plus.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and attend two evening meetings per month.
  • Must be able to work onsite in our Hudsonville, Michigan location at least three days per week.
Salary Description $60,000-$80,000
