The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Planner Estimator for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O).
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
* Initiates, plans, and coordinates work orders for the repair, maintenance, changes and additions to the University Facilities.
* Maintains liaison with the department facilities coordinators, discussing individual problems and request with heads of all University departments.
* Initiates, directs and plans preventive maintenance programs for buildings and equipment.
* Prepares estimates for departmental projects and maintains control of the project to completion.
* Conducts acceptance inspections of contractors and in-house work.
* Coordinates periodic inspection of assigned facilities to determine short range and long range maintenance and repair requests.
* Prepares responses and administers status of fire code violations, life safety projects and building code compliance issues.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience, and a minimum of two (2) years' experience in institutional project work or maintenance field.
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Must have the ability to read blueprints, write specifications, and develop project costs.
* Good communication, organizational, and customer service skills; and computer literacy in industry standard software are also required.
* Must be able to develop project specifications, write project justifications, and develop project costs.
Preferred Qualifications
* Ten years' experience in building trades with minimum of five years' extensive experience in mechanical/electrical repair and maintenance field.
Equipment Utilized
* MS Office Excel, Word, and Powerpoint. Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System
