On AgingJob Description:Under the supervision of the Transportation Coordinator and Director, transports elderly, persons with disabilities and General Public Transportation riders from one location to another in the safest manner possible by means of the KDOT vans stationed at the Butler County Department on Aging. This employee will serve as relief dispatcher and as assistant to the Transportation Coordinator. Duties as assistant will include bookkeeping, planning, and coordinating vehicle maintenance. Neat appearance and a sincere desire to work with the general public, especially the elderly and people with disabilities.Job Duties:100% -Receives and coordinates transportation requests from general public; logs all requests into system; conveys daily pick up schedule to drivers; makes adjustments in schedule with drivers.\ Receipts all funds and balances cash collected at the end of the day.\ Complies with countywide and department policies and procedures.\ Ensures drivers maintain daily cleanliness of vehicles interior/exterior and maintain logs of servicing.\ Follows company safety and operational rules and procedures.\ Follows KDOT procedures for reporting accidents, drug testing if required, handling emergency passenger situations.\ Operates all job-related machinery, equipment, tools and other aids as required, necessary, or needed in the performance of these job functions.\ Writes reports in coherent, legible manner.\ Performs other duties as deemed necessary or as required.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Planning Aide -Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.\ Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.\ Ability to be highly organized.\ Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.\ Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.\ Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of communications, conveying detailed or important instructions and information to the general public.\ Ability to load/unload and secure people in wheelchairs onto vehicles using different types of lifts.\ Ability to read and disseminate map and manifest information.\ Ability to read and interpret a map, speak clearly, hear accurately, and interact courteously with the public.\ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.\ Ability to reliably and predictably carry out duties.\ Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.\ Ability to use good judgment in emergency situations.\ Ability to use sound judgment in all road conditions and in emergency situations.\ Ability to work with and communicate clearly, accurately, and effectively with people, both in person and by telephone; sensitivity to the needs of elderly and disabled persons.\ Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.\ Knowledge of equipment maintenance.\ Knowledge of procedures to follow in the event of an accident.\ Knowledge of safety operations.\ Knowledge of streets and roads in Butler County.\ Knowledge of the demographics of the service area.Physical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
