Pittsburgh Regional Transit is seeking a Planning Intern to support transit-oriented development, multimodal and station area planning, community engagement, best practice research, data and spatial analysis, and other types of projects to advance initiatives within Port Authority d/b/a/ Pittsburgh Regional Transit's Planning and Service Developing Department.Essential Functions:andnbsp;andnbsp; Assists with various activities, including project development, research, analysis, and implementation.Assists with analysis and GIS work for service analysis, transit-oriented development, multimodal planning, station area plans, grant applications, or other projects as needed.Assist the Service Development team through applying data manipulation, analysis and visualization in one or more of the following projects:oandnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp; Analyze ridership patterns to inform service decisions.andnbsp;oandnbsp;andnbsp;Assess effectiveness of service changes, including monitoring ridership per trip, on time performance, and ridership by geographic area.oandnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp; Develop interactive maps and dashboards that allow end users to explore transit data and discover insights.oandnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp; Assist with internal and external reporting and data requests as needed.andnbsp;Job requirements include:andnbsp; A college degree or be enrolled in a college degree program in planning, public policy, urban design, architecture, information/data sciences, engineering, or a related field of study. Recent graduates of the same programs will also be considered.Knowledge of a spatial analysis tool such as ArcGIS.Data manipulation skills, including ability to retrieve clean it, join to other datasets, and export in a clean format.Ability to conduct thorough and organized research.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.Some evening and weekend work may be required for community engagement events.Preferred Attributes:Candidate enrolled in or recently graduated from a master's degree program in urban planning, public policy, data analysis, or related field.Experience in transportation planning, urban planning, community engagement, engineering, or real estate.Strong data visualization skills that communicate a clear message to the end user.Ability to use Adobe Creative Cloud software.Knowledge of a coding language such as R or Python.Knowledge of dashboarding tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.Ability to write basic SQL queries.We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
