Job Overview The Plant Accountant will play a critical role on behalf of our client, in supporting the financial operations of a manufacturing plant by providing in-depth quantitative and qualitative variance analysis. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, expense monitoring, and budget preparation while closely collaborating with plant operations and management teams to optimize profitability. The Plant Accountant is instrumental in driving data-driven decision-making to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of plant operations. Key Responsibilities
- Review production order variances and WIP aging reports to identify trends and discrepancies.
- Monitor and analyze plant expenses to ensure budgetary compliance.
- Approve plant purchase requisitions and review capital project AFE submissions.
- Resolve purchase order receiving and payment issues through GRIR/MRBR analysis.
- Prepare annual plant budgets and monthly forecasts to support financial planning.
- Conduct month-end closing analysis and prepare detailed financial reports.
- Collaborate with the operations team to measure ROI on plant productivity projects.
- Lead annual physical inventory counts and fixed asset inventories every three years.
- Support internal, external, and SOX audits by providing necessary documentation and analysis.
- Assist the Plant Manager and operations team with ad hoc financial analysis and routine reporting.
Requirements Include Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing company with a fully integrated ERP system (preferably SAP).
- Prior experience leading physical inventories.
Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tight deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Excellent ability to communicate technical accounting concepts to non-accountants.
