Welser Profile is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to become a member of our team. This onsite role is located in Valley City, OH and reports to the Director of Human Resources.
What You'll Do
As the EHS Manager, you will be responsible for providing continual improvement of Safety, Health and Environmental processes to drive attainment of goals related to risk reduction, injury prevention, sustainability and compliance with regulations and standards. This position serves as the subject matter expert in the areas of safety, health, sustainability, and the environment.
Responsibilities:
- Leads the entire environmental, health and safety function.
- Interprets and communicates environmental, health & safety standards impacting the company and satellite operations. Develops, coordinates implementation, and maintains programs designed to minimize EHS risks.
- Educates, provides leadership and resources, counsels, and evaluates the performance of the team.
- Advises, coaches, and influences all team members on minimizing and eliminating workplace risks. Ensure policies and procedures are established, prepared, implemented, revised, and maintained to meet current and known future safety and health requirements.
- Leads incident investigation, conducting root cause analysis, reporting, and follow-up with involved departments and Human Resources. Initiates follow-up on corrective actions and communication; maintains appropriate files and records in accordance with regulatory record retention requirements.
- Monitors daily activities of all departments in a manner to prevent harm to team members, visitors, public health and the environment. Promotes the conservation of energy, water, and raw materials, and the integration of pollution prevention.
- Facilitates and directs the Safety Committee, First Responders and related meetings.
- Leads the creation, implementation, and continual update of safety training. Establishes procedures for training team members. Ensures the development and maintain resource information. Conduct safety and environmental training –annually and for new hires.
- Develops and manages the implementation of policies, procedures, and systems to support the maintenance of systems and standards compliance. As part of that goal, directs the design, development, and modification of safety and environmental processes and systems.
- Coordinates the provision of competent first aid and/or treatment for work-related injuries/illnesses, health maintenance/medical surveillance and referral services for the company team members.
- Coordinates industrial hygiene, monitoring for noise, air, particulates, hydrocarbon vapor, etc. in accordance with the company and regulatory requirements. Maintains related records and coordinated the Workers Compensation Program in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Obtains, maintains, and ensures compliance with County, State, and Federal environmental-related approvals, permits, plans, registrations; and routine or periodic reporting related to waste (RCRA, DOT), Storm water (SWP2, SPCC), and EPA.
- Understands all potential safety and environmental hazards of chemical raw materials handled/stored at company locations. Takes steps to reduce the use of problematic chemicals and/or mitigate any potential safety and environmental health hazards.
- Reviews, creates, and oversees accuracy of SDS and safety-related language on product labels to ensure content and warnings comply with applicable regulations.

Bachelor's degree in safety engineering, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, human resources, business administration or similar fields of study from an accredited college or university.
- 5 or more years EHS experience in manufacturing environment, metal manufacturing preferred.
- Manufacturing equipment risk assessment and hazard recognition experience required.
- Must be proficient with OSHA, NFPA, DOT and applicable ANSI standards as related to manufacturing equipment including Mechanical Power Presses.
- Familiar with EPA, RCRA and other environmental standards as related to manufacturing.
- Professional certification in safety or environmental field preferred.
- Familiarity with OSHA VPP programs.
- Positive, solution focused approach.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with operations, engineering, and influence internal and external resources.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
- Experience with conducting root cause analysis and driving corrective action.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; ability to interact professionally and at multiple levels.
- Highly skilled in MS Office Suite.
- Consistently demonstrates highest level of personal ethical conduct, leads by example with strong values.
- Results-driven, flexible with a strong customer focus and ability to manage and organize multiple priorities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Depending on experience and skills, candidates will be considered at an EHS Coordinator level.
