Plant Manager

We are working with one of the top dairy producers in the country! With their countrywide footprint, they bring their best to customers and have plenty of opportunities for employees to grow in their own way! They are looking for a Plant Manager to direct the overall activities of the plant including production, processing, packaging, quality, warehousing, shipping, purchasing, safety, environmental and administration.

Location: Delaware County, NY. Relocation assistance provided!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Directs the overall activities of the manufacturing facilities of the plant to ensure customer orders are received, scheduled, produced and shipped at the lowest possible cost to meet the customers requirements while maintaining corporate established quality standards.
  • Analyzes plant operations to ensure that the facility maintains a leading position in the industry and that it takes advantage of new processes and technologies that become available
  • Responsible for expense control, including shrink, yields, labor and overhead costs utilizing Continuous Improvement techniques.
  • Develops annual manufacturing expense budget in accordance with forecasted sales volumes and planned inventory levels.
  • Develops and manages implementation of plant capital budget.
  • Provides reliable and accurate information to finance to ensure that end of month closing schedules are met.
  • Ensures that appropriate standard operating procedures (SOP s) are developed and maintained for all aspects of the business.
  • Implements plant safety programs and ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP s).
  • Responsible for the Food Safety Policy/Program to assess potential food safety risks and to ensure food safety preventive measures are being implemented and routinely audited regarding the manufacturing, handling and storage of all food ingredients as well as finished goods.
  • Responsible for environmental compliance, as well as all corporate, customer and government audits to ensure compliance.
  • Acts as a liaison with Distribution, Supply Planning, Sales and Customer Service to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction in helping to address customer inquiries, problems and concerns.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, employee performance evaluations, discipline, and employee commendation
  • Has supervisory responsibility involving staffing, conducting performance appraisals, mentoring, training and developing the team, promotions, salary increases, terminations, disciplinary actions, etc

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in a plant operations leadership role in food manufacturing operations.
  • Able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of regulatory laws, standards, and best practices.
  • Solid understanding of costs related to dairy manufacturing and packaging.
  • Ability to train and supervise staff, formulate policy, and direct activities.
  • Microsoft Office Suite, ERP experience required, SAP a plus.
  • Experience in successfully influencing, leading, coaching, motivating, and leading a team in a hands-on environment.
  • Union Experience is ideal but not required.
