Job Description:
Plant Manager Job Responsibilities:
  • Displays all the characteristics of Arclin's Leadership Model and outwardly communicates and expects the same from all deputies, peers and employees.
  • Ensures that the operation and associated project work occurs in compliance with all Arclin policies and procedures including HSE and regulatory requirements. Meet all Federal, Provincial, State environmental requirements.
  • Creates a team environment conducive to innovation.Integrates the innovative thinking of direct reports, peers, project team members into decisions which benefit project outcomes, while building the capabilities of team members.
  • Achieves project or defined sub-set of departmental objectives within agreed time, cost, and quality parameters
  • Produce products at the lowest possible cost through the continuous optimization of rate, waste and energy consumption, while minimizing labor density
  • Explains context/rationale for team goals/deliverables to direct reports in ways which enable team members to fully engage their talent and business acumen
  • Develops annual departmental plans and ensures that expense and capital budgets are aligned with functional and Business objectives.Communicates broader plans and objectives while cascading work assignments to team members.
  • Provides full cycle performance management support for direct reports; this includes:setting objectives, coaching and monitoring work in progress, coaching for career direction and skill development, providing formal feedback and recognition, communicating overall departmental and function strategic direction and progress against plans.Removes barriers, gains access to resources and prioritizes the work of team members.
Plant Manager Job Requirements:
  • Bachelors' Degree in Engineering or Science required
  • 8+ years relevant manufacturing experience
  • Proven leadership skills and experience managing a plant of 40+ employees
  • Knowledge of resin manufacturing and/or paper treating
  • Ability to deal with customer problems that have been elevated and/or to proactively approach customers to anticipate and manage potentially contentious situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to read the pulse of the organization and to stay connected the base to proactively manage employee relations situations.
  • Knowledge of HSE regulations for jurisdiction.
  • Demonstrated project management and process improvement management.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer is a plus
  • Ability to operate safely in a manufacturing environment; this may include, but is not limited to potentially lifting up to 20 lbs, standing for extended periods of time bending, crouching, stooping, rotating, climbing stairs, or any combination of the aforementioned, etc.
