Position Summary

The Plant Manager is responsible for food safety, manufacturing, organizing and control of the small scale Symrise facility in Columbus, GA within a multi-shift, multi-process operation that includes Beverage & Syrup Manufacturing, Liquid Compounding, and dry pack. This plant has a total of 15-20 employees.

The Plant Manager will define, measure, analyze, improve and control the processes. Work with key management to assure the manufacturing operation creates and ships products meeting customer expectations on-time within the framework of local, state and federal regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Manages all personnel and operations to insure the manufacturing of products meeting customer expectations within the company standards of budget, policies, procedures, quality, safety and sanitation.

* Reviews and approves the implementation of manufacturing and organizational plans, then reviews performance against operating plans and standards. Communicates to subordinates on interpretation of results and approves changes in direction of plans.

* Assures that duties, responsibilities, authority and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.

* Develops specific short-term and long-term objectives, plans and programs, together with supporting budget requests and financial estimates in each area of operation. Issues specific objectives to subordinates and reviews performance.

* Develops/maintains updated manufacturing procedures; scales up formulations from Development and is responsible for establishing and implementing the training needs of staff to ensure they have the required competencies to carry out functions affecting product legality and safety in accordance with GMP, SQF, FDA, USDA, Kosher, Halal, Organic, safety and environmental regulations.

* Assures consistent and complete implementation of all company policies, procedures, work rules and safety requirements.

* Keeps employees informed as to company/department plans and progress. Maintains appropriate communications within area of responsibility.

Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

* Has a minimum of 5-10 years of successful experience in planning, organizing, developing and controlling all aspects of a manufacturing/processing operation (Food industry experience desirable).

* Bachelors Degree in an accredited 4 year college or university

* Requires the ability to read and write in English all procedures, written instructions, policies, or documentation to implement daily activities. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office with SAP experience desirable.
