Job Role

The Plant Manager for FP Filtration will work alongside the VP Operations and Information & Process Manager in leading the growth, professionalism, excellence, and overall quantitative and qualitative success of FP Filtration. This role will have direct authority and leadership over a team designed to provide a product and service to a customer that relies on our execution excellence. The Plant Manager develops, implements, and executes plans and procedures for maintaining high standards of operations, ensuring products and services conform to established customer and company quality and safety standards.

Job Responsibilities, Bucket

  • Establishing manpower needs to meet production requirements.
  • Oversee day-to-day production operations, getting hands-on as needed.
  • Define and implement production guidelines, ensuring team members are clear on their goals to meet order demand.
  • Monitor production performance to proactively identify efficiency issues and implement solutions.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all phases of operations. Review and formalize plant layout to maximize throughput and minimize movement distance.
  • Coordinate support to operations throughout the business.
  • Know intimately the product lifecycle - what products are used in our manufacturing operation and why.
  • Maintain Inventory for demand.
  • Willingness to work at level with other team members to understand their pain points and implement actions to create a more efficient/effective job role.
  • Know, implement, and keep up to date all safety guidelines. Preach safety routinely - circumventing safety requirements for 'ease' is never acceptable.
  • Collect and review data to reduce inefficiencies and waste.
  • Understand and be able to use and train on all machines and machine setups for specific products.
  • Protect and promote the FP Filtration brand and reputation in all your dealings.

Job Responsibilities, Granular

  • Interview, hire, train, and mentor the production team(s), including Handline Operators, Material Preparation Folders, Production Boxers/Packagers, Machinery Specialists (Pleating, Laminating, Frame, Forklift), Customs Line Operators, Pickers, Team Leaders, and any other position required to meet production demands. Team leaders handle and manage inventory levels and perform inventory counts.
  • Ensure each person in each role knows their job requirements and is adequately trained to perform the job daily.
  • Adequately train redundancy for all operator positions. Every position should have at least 1 backup.
  • Review and execute the production schedule for each job department daily and weekly. Ensure materials are in place to perform the job to meet those production demands.
  • Establish and review all operator accountability metrics with employees, team leaders on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. Record production goals daily for visibility for all departments. Review production actuals vs. goals with all team members.
  • Receive inventory from vendor shipments and report received quantities to I&P Manager. Organize raw materials and finished goods as prescribed, safely and neatly.
  • Organize and perform raw materials and finished goods cycle counts in accordance with set frequencies. Deliver results to I&P Manager.
  • Perform quality checks daily on materials off each production line. Make corrective action as needed. Teach/Train operators to spot quality issues in real time and take corrective action immediately.
  • Attend and review quarterly safety walkthroughs, address identified issues with urgency.
  • Manage interpersonal conflict and address employee concerns.

Plant Manager Qualifications/Skills:

  • Proven track record as a team leader with an understanding of management practices, leadership.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with an impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to set overall strategy and drive process improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and build a consensus in a high-pressure environment.
  • High-bandwidth activity to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Ability and knack for recruiting and/or developing high performance talent.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, and stooping.
  • Must be able to handle hot and cold environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
