Position SummaryThe Machinery Assembly Manager will provide leadership & perform essential management tasks. This is a hands-on manufacturing leadership position that supports, coaches, directs and oversees daily assembly and logistics operations of the plant. It is a key position that ensures all policies and procedures are being followed. This person is responsible to develop processes that will maximize safety, quality, customer service, productivity, and continuous improvement goals at the Germantown WI facility. This position must work within the framework of the core values of Pregis which are Integrity, Collaboration, Customer Focus, and Innovation. Responsibilities
  • Drive the safety initiatives and make improvements and enhancements to plant safety programs.
  • Drive world-class assembly and warehouse management practices and create a practical mindset of Lean and Continuous Improvement across the organization to improve operational capability, to better serve customers and optimize cost structure.
  • Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assembly, processing, material handling and quality inspection.
  • Provide BOM's, specification sheets, and assembly instructions as well as training for shop floor.
  • Collaborate with supply chain related to planning, sourcing, and buying for part demands based on forecasts and actual orders to ensure material availability in production.
  • Develop and incorporate statistical process control techniques for manufacturing processes.
  • Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to improve assembly and process efficiency.
  • Engage with operational employees and team members to lead all manufacturing activities. Make recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to achieve production output goals and to exceed our customers' expectations regarding product quality and on-time delivery.
  • Ensure customer backlog and production schedule are efficiently managed, maintained, and communicated.
  • Implement strategies in alignment with business unit Key Strategic Initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Develop and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
  • Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff.
  • Understands and is accountable for Plant P&L and main drivers to financial performance. Works with finance, sales, and operations teams to develop and drive programs that achieve and continuously improve results.
  • Incorporates Vision and Values into day-to-day activities and behaviors guiding and motivating others.
  • Collaborates with Sales, Engineering, Service, and Assembly teams to optimize production performance, lower overall manufacturing costs, and exceed customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with Pregis Corporate IT on future strategy on ITOT technology and equipment that will reduce labor costs while driving growth and value for the business and customer.
RequirementsEducation/Experience:
  • BS from a four-year college (Engineering Degree is preferred).
  • 5-8+ years of experience in manufacturing management; machine assembly is a plus.
  • Prior experience managing direct reports is a must.
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources).
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
Skills & Training:
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources).
  • Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office; ability to manage and analyze large data sets and build models in MS Excel.
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.
  • Capable of leading root cause analysis investigations.
  • Knowledge of process improvement principles such as Lean, Six Sigma.
  • Exceptional written, verbal skills.
  • SAP background and skills are a plus.
