Position summary:Responsible for management of Lost Creek plant operations, and additional laboratory staff as required. This primarily consists, but is not limited to, operating and understanding all systems in the uranium processing plant (Ion Exchange, Elution, Precipitation, Filtration, Drying, Packaging, Water Treatment / Disposal, and Reagents).Essential Functions:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Maintain safe and efficient processing of production fluids into dried yellowcakeMaintain compliance with regulatory and corporate requirementsCompile process data for analysis and determine trends in processes; utilize process data for use in preparation of daily and monthly production and compliance reportsSchedule and manage work crewsProvide budgets for operations activities; specify and purchase process materials and equipmentReview automation and instrumentation systems and data to optimize plant operationsAnticipate and identify operational issues before they develop into problems; work with staff to troubleshoot and correct operational upsets or problemsDiagnose fluid transfer, filtration, and treatment problems as they relate to plant operations.Develop and maintain chemical systems and evaluate chemical processes to optimize production.Evaluate and optimize PIDs and flow sheets.Work with other departments/staff as necessary to achieve production and operational goals.Other duties as assigned.The preceding examples are representative of the functions necessarily performed by this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.Education and Qualifications:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Hydrometallurgy, or like degreeCritical thinking and strong communication skillsStrong math skills related to chemistry and process operationsExperience and compliance with regulations and proceduresStrong planning, organizational and follow up skillsComprehension of safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsStrong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and WordSafety practices and policy:The employee must be knowledgeable about and comply with the Company's safety policies and procedures.Physical demands and work environment:The physical demand and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this jobPhysical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be mobile (walking, standing); to use hands for various tasks; to see and hear adequately to perform all essential functions and maintain a safe work environment.
