We believe that hard work should be rewarded and that every member ofour team is crucial to our joint success.POSITION SUMMARYThe Plant Manager reports to the Vice President of Operations. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of all production operations, continuous improvement, quality, scheduling, shipping, manufacturing engineering and evaluation of the assigned plant facility to include personnel within these areas. The role will also collaborate with cross functional departments to carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures that keep the plant within budget, ensure deadlines are met and maintain continuous improvements across the plant.RESPONSIBILITIESThis list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  • Oversee all daily operations of the plant from production to manufacturing
  • Provide leadership, development and coaching for all functions within the assigned plant including production, maintenance, manufacturing engineering, shipping, quality, scheduling and supply chain. Responsible for establishing and managing all programs and systems necessary to operate and improve the Plant.
  • Responsible to drive company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all Local, State and Federal laws pertaining to Operations, Safety, Environmental, and/or Sanitation, including the SHARPS program, inspections, stormwater and OSHA guidelines
  • Support the build of production schedules, ensuring on time shipping
  • Create and manage the operational budget, implementing Continuous Improvements
  • Work closely with procurement to thoroughly understand supply chain opportunities
  • Collect and review data to reduce inefficiencies and waste
  • Analyze data and develop reports to present to executives regarding processes
  • Establish production goals, safety standards and production processes that maximize production activities
  • Evaluate, coach, and develop employees; conduct one-on-one meetings and team meetings, when necessary
  • Work closely with HR team on recruitment and retention, supporting Leer's Culture statement
  • Regularly communicate and collaborate with production team to address production schedule concerns or issues
  • Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and building, and establish housekeeping standards
  • Collaborate with Vice President of Operations on capital project improvements
  • Collaborate with company network including Finance, Human Resources, Quality, and Sales to maximize knowledge of core competencies and best practices
  • Effectively communicate with management team, customers, employees, peers, and senior level management
  • Achieve financial goals by managing productivity, quality, and customer service standards
  • Model the values and culture of the company
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Education and Experience
  • Requires 10 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably in a related industry)
  • Bachelor's degree in production and operations management strongly preferred but not required
  • Minimum of five years in a leadership role in production and operations, with proven coaching and leadership strengths
  • Detailed knowledge of plant and manufacturing operations
  • Knowledge of all applicable safety laws and regulations
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret common business and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to prepare reports, budgets, memos and business correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate to top management, vendors, customers and other employees of the organization.Reasoning AbilityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
