Job DescriptionJob Summary: gpac seeks a dynamic and experienced Plant Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of our processing facility. The Plant Manager is responsible for ensuring production efficiency, quality control, safety, and regulatory compliance while managing a team of department leaders. This role requires a strategic, hands-on leader with a strong background in food production and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards in pork processing. Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership - Direct and coordinate daily production activities, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and quality targets are met.
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet demand and optimize labor and equipment utilization.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, product quality, and safety.
Team Management - Lead, mentor, and develop plant leadership and operational staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and growth.
- Manage performance and provide feedback and training to ensure workforce is aligned with plant goals and company standards.
- Build and maintain a high-performance team through effective recruiting, training, and talent management.
Quality and Compliance - Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including USDA, HACCP, OSHA, and other food safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to maintain quality standards and address any quality-related issues promptly.
- Lead audits and inspections, ensuring the facility meets internal and external standards.
Safety and Environmental Standards - Champion a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Proactively identify and address potential safety risks to prevent accidents and promote a safe work environment.
Financial Management - Develop and manage the plant's budget, controlling costs, maximizing efficiencies, and achieving financial targets.
- Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for productivity, waste, and labor efficiency.
Strategic Planning and Communication - Collaborate with senior leadership on operational strategies and execute long-term planning to support company growth.
- Facilitate effective communication across departments, keeping the team informed and aligned on goals and expectations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Food Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in a food processing plant, with at least 5 years in a management role within the pork or meat processing industry.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Knowledge of USDA, HACCP, and OSHA regulations.
- Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Operations Management or Food Science.
- Experience with high-volume pork processing or related protein industries.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
