Job Summary

Under the direction of the Area Plant Director, the Plant Manager is responsible for overall management of our client partner's plant/ Facility. This includes ownership of personnel and process safety, environmental compliance, O&M Performance and full P&L responsibility. This individual provides leadership to the GLSD Team and serves as a liaison between the District and our client's SUCCESS FACTORS.

Ensures the Facility maintains the highest standards for safety and environmental compliance performance. Ensures annual operating and P&L metrics are achieved. Takes ownership for plant operations and performance. Proactively plan and execute preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance and plan and coordinate major capital repairs to minimize equipment downtime. Build a strong relationship with the District based on trust and open communication.

Essential Functions

STATUS AND SCOPE

Direct Reports: four Chief Operators, four Operators, one Mechanic, one Operator-Mechanic

Reports to: Area Plant Director

  • Safety
  • Foster a culture that promotes a safe work environment where employees have zero tolerance for unsafe conditions or actions
  • Work with the Team to identify and eliminate hazards wherever possible by allocating necessary resources.
  • Ensure the Team completes all required safety training, attends monthly safety meetings and as part of the corporate hazard recognition program, submits monthly Saves.
  • Leadership
  • Take Ownership. Build a culture that empowers Team members to make decisions and take ownership for their work.
  • Promote a culture of accountability where Team members hold each other accountable to meet the plant goals, particularly around safety performance.
  • Build strong relationships based on trust and mutual respect among the Team, with the District, and with senior leadership.
  • Always act with integrity. Say what you will do and do what you say.
  • Operations & Maintenance
  • Ensure plant operates in compliance with all contractual and permit requirements.
  • Full P&L responsibility
  • Instill a continuous improvement mindset with the Team. Build consensus and lead lean initiatives.
  • Maintain data accuracy in all reporting, CMMS and financial systems
  • Provide troubleshooting and engineering support for the Team
  • Manage all maintenance and repair activities to minimize downtime and maintain contract compliance.
  • Manage capital budgets. Recommend, justify and manage capital projects.
  • Partner with the District for Major Capital Improvement planning.

  • Ability to communicate effectively up and down the chain of command.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 products, CMMS, and enterprise financial systems, FIIX and NetSuite a plus
  • Knowledge of biosolids processing as well as 503 regulations a plus

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Chemical or Mechanical preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • MA Grade II Municipal or higher wastewater operator's license
  • Possess or obtain within six months of hire OSHA 30 Certification.
  • 3+ years relevant experience in a plant environment
  • 3+ years in a leadership position
