Job Description:
As the Plant Manager at Plant 2, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the plant's operations, ensuring its efficiency, productivity, and safety. You will lead a diverse team of employees, promote a positive work culture, and be accountable for achieving operational goals and targets. The Plant Manager plays a critical role in strategic planning, resource management, and maintaining high-quality standards to drive the plant overall.Established in the Blue Ridge foothills of North Carolina in 1963, Leonard Buildings and Truck Accessories is a manufacturer and distributor whose product lines include storage buildings, cargo and utility trailers, truck covers, truck and van accessories, carports, playhouses, chicken coops, and dog houses. We serve our residential, commercial, fleet, and government customers through our 150+ retail store locations in eighteen states, supported by our corporate offices (in Mount Airy, NC, and Cobden, IL), distribution centers, and strategically located manufacturing facilities.Job Responsibilities: 1. Operations Management:
  • Oversee and coordinate day-to-day plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality control, and logistics, to ensure seamless and efficient processes.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production efficiency and reduce waste.
2. Team Leadership:
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of supervisors, managers, and employees, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Set clear expectations, provide coaching and development opportunities, and conduct performance evaluations.
3. Strategic Planning:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans and objectives for the plant in alignment with the company's overall goals.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, cost reduction, and process improvement to enhance the plant's competitive position.
4. Budget and Resource Management:
  • Develop and manage the plant's budget, ensuring that financial resources are allocated appropriately to meet production and operational needs.
  • Optimize resource utilization to achieve maximum productivity and cost-effectiveness.
5. Health and Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety awareness and adherence to best practices.
  • Lead incident investigations and take corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
6. Quality Control and Assurance:
  • Maintain high-quality standards for products and processes, implementing quality control measures and conducting regular inspections.
  • Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
7. Customer Relations:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, addressing their needs and concerns promptly to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Work with the sales and marketing teams to understand customer demands and align production accordingly.
8. Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure the plant complies with all local, state, and federal regulations related to manufacturing, safety, and environmental standards.
9. Reporting and Communication:
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on plant performance, accomplishments, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Foster open communication channels with all plant staff and encourage feedback and suggestions for improvement.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Plant Manager or in a senior leadership role in manufacturing or industrial settings.
  • Strong understanding of plant operations, process optimization, and supply chain management.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and experience in creating a safe work culture.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Financial acumen and budget management skills.

Physical Requirements: Ability to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time. Ability to type on a keyboard. Ability to hear and talk. Ability to move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc. Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as calculator, copy machine, and printer. Requires close vision for computer work and reviewing correspondence.
