  • The Role:We are looking for our next Plant Manager at our Gurnee, IL site. Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, the Plant Manager at the Gurnee manufacturing plant has responsibility for all operational activities and personnel for that location. The Plant Manager will develop, oversee and execute the operations strategy to meet business requirements and drive reduction in cost of goods manufactured (COGM).
  • Direct the work of the plant operations leadership team.
  • Analyze operations requirements and work cross-functionally within operations (internal manufacturing, external manufacturing, supply chain, procurement) as well as with functions outside of operations (business, Quality , R&D, legal).
  • Leverage knowledge of industry best practices and appropriate modeling and financial analysis to recommend solutions to enhance operations performance and profitability.
  • Oversee and execute operations strategies that will develop and ensure consistent and efficient flow of product across the supply chain from supplier to customer and enable best in class service to internal and external customers.
  • Consider latest developments in the competitive technology, EH&S and team development.

Experience working effectively in a matrix organizations with global locations; and working with individuals with diverse backgrounds. 15+ years of experience in operations, manufacturing, chemistry/chemical engineering or a related discipline (chemical manufacturing is preferred) Expertise in strategy development, cost management, and continuous improvement. Demonstrated ability to manage capital expenditures, budgeting and expense control, forecasting plant performance metrics. Innovative thinker with experience in new process technology/process engineering leadership. Must have relevant knowledge of batch and continuous mass process technologies. Demonstrated understanding and commitment to EHS development and compliance. He/She must have worked in an environment where there is clear collaboration with other functions including commercial, R&D, finance, etc. If from a large company, the executive must demonstrate the ability to work in a lean, fast paced environment, have a bias for action and focus on results. Strong business acumen, intellectual horsepower, process management, managing diverse and challenging relationships.What You'll Need:Preferred Understands the capabilities of SAP (or legacy systems) and how to use them to plan and extract data to improve operations. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Powerpoint). The successful candidate must be a strategic thought leader who enjoys creating and working in a highly collaborative environment. He/She will serve as a role model for Roquette's values and be a champion of the culture and change management. Agility and the ability to enable and empower organizations is critical. The ideal individual will have proven communication and leadership skills and will be a mentor for future leaders. Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with the ability to adapt to changes and competing priorities.
  • Manage key partner relationships and performance.
  • Develop and execute an operations strategy to meet and exceed key company performance goals, including cost reductions and inventory targets; capacity growth; and meeting customer quality and delivery requirements.
  • He/she will aim to maximize business growth and profitability through strong analytical, collaborative, and influencing skills.
  • Take a customer-back end-to-end supply chain view and demonstrate commitment and accountability while also anticipating the needs of the customers and focusing the organization to meet them.
  • Lead and direct health, safety, and environmental compliance and culture across the organization, both staff and manufacturing teams, to continue success with Roquette's core value of safety.
  • Sponsors Lean Six Sigma projects and actively participates in frequent project reviews.
  • Engages and focuses the organization on cycle time improvement through the application of Lean and Kaizen events.
  • Be a change agent for developing key organizational capabilities to continue to improve performance, using such methodologies as Lean Six Sigma, Operational Excellence, as well as other key process and leadership changes / improvements.
  • Collaborate with all functional areas to ensure alignment with key priorities and make certain that new products, plans, processes, and other service requirements are effectively translated into operational plans.
  • Motivate, develop, retain, and recruit top talent across the organization through employee engagement tools and trusting relationships.
  • Design goals and expectations that motivate the organization to achieve the results required for sustainable success.
What You'll Do:Lead and manage site manufacturing, maintenance, and environmental/health/safety. Safety being a priority. Participate in continuous improvement programs Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the processing plant and its operations.
