Job Summary:
The City of Greeley is seeking a part-time Plant Operator D for our Bellvue Water Treatment Plant located in Bellvue, Colorado. As a part of the Bellvue Water Treatment Division, you will work with a group of committed employees and other professionals who are dedicated to enhancing Greeley's leadership role in the Colorado water community. Individuals are innovative, enjoy challenges and seek out responsibility to ensure safe and aesthetically pleasing drinking water. The Bellvue water treatment plant is a 35 MGD rated conventional plant that meets the challenges of growth of the community of Greeley. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with various aspects at the City of Greeley Bellvue water treatment plant, under the direction of the Lead Operators.
This position is part-time and can work up to 29 hours per week with eligibility for limited part-time benefits, consisting of the option to purchase dental and vision coverage, employee assistance program, and Healthy Families and Workplace Act sick leave at the rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, for a maximum accrual of 48 hours of HFWA leave per year.
The current schedule consists of Monday to Friday, with holidays and weekend shifts, as needed.
The Plant Operator will be monitoring and maintaining raw and finished water quality. Operators will adjust water treatment chemicals based on online analyzers, perform laboratory bench tests to verify quality, and adjust raw and finished flows as demands dictate. Maintenance will include online process equipment, as well as various pumps, motors, and other plant equipment. You will collaborate with plant mechanics to assist with preventative maintenance and larger projects. Other duties as assigned may be delegated to the individual.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
Minimum Requirements
* Valid and current driver's license with an acceptable driving record (MVR and background check required).
* High school diploma or equivalent (in order to take Colorado Water Operator certifications).
* Experience with hand and power tools.
* Experience performing janitorial and mechanical maintenance.
* Current Colorado Class D Water certification or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date.
OR
* A combination of education, experience, licensure, or certification that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job may be considered by the hiring authority.
Preferred
* Current Colorado Class D Water certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Knowledge of the business and organizational structure of Colorado municipalities.
* Ability to perform algebraic calculations of chemical feed rates and manually adjust the process pumps to output the feed rates.

Essential Functions:
* Reads and interprets gauges and meters used in regulating operations of plant equipment.
* Monitors objects and data for compliance and operating standards.
* Performs daily record keeping, water quality sampling, and routine laboratory analysis.
* Collects and analyzes water samples; records and maintains data.
* Performs other functions such as janitorial and mechanical maintenance.
* Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public.
* Attends safety sessions and stays informed on all safety and emergency procedures.
* Uses hand and power tools properly and safely to maintain the facility and grounds.
* Interprets water quality/quantity data and makes appropriate adjustments or recommendations.
* Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Travel: May travel to other City locations up to 10% of the time.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
* Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals & gases, including gaseous chlorine.
