Our client, headquartered in Dedham, Massachusetts, is a power generation and infrastructure company with a portfolio of assets in the United States and Canada. They are looking for a Plant Operator in their Dorchester, SC and Allendale, SC locations. The company is engaged in power generation through hydro, natural gas, biomass, and coal fired power plants. The project utilizes approximately 500,000 tons of woody biomass annually, consisting of urban wood waste, mill and logging residues for renewable energy.In this role, the Plant Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient management of the fuel supply at the biomass facilities. The candidate is expected to:- Operate, maintain and repair equipment, such as repairs fluidized bubbling bed combustor, steam generators, steam turbines, electrical generators, air compressors, motors, pumps, compressors, electrical switchgear, loaders, ash and fuel handling systems, bulldozers and small utility equipment- Work rotating shift hours, overtime, and irregular hours as needed to support reliable operation of the facility- Record data such as temperature of equipment, hours of operation, fuel consumption,temperature or pressure, water level, analysis of flue gases, voltage load, and generator balance- Use prescribed plant operations procedures to adjust manual control or override automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating range- Operate the plant equipment in a safe manner using the plant operations procedures as directed by the Shift Supervisor- Perform routine plant rounds and record keeping- May assist with scheduled, unscheduled, and preventative maintenance tasks- Perform all aspects of water test and treatments- Perform ash-handling duties- Comply with safety standardsBase salary, $60 - $75K, plus overtime, an 8% bonus, benefits, and a 401k with 5% match.
