Plains is looking for a highly motivated Plant Operator to work at our gas processing facility in Superior, WI. This position is responsible for the operations of all HMI systems, process equipment, truck loading equipment and in coming/outgoing pipeline systems at the Superior and Rapid River facilities. #plains
Responsibilities:
- Operate a propane fractionation facility with propane storage and truck loading;
- Perform quality control tests on different products to ensure products are on spec. before accepting or shipping the products;
- Maintain and complete accurate filing and updating of all operational and maintenance records including but not limited to: Tickets and meter calibrations, lockout / tag out permits, safe work and hot work permits, daily environmental reporting, flaring reports and general log book entries.
- Report and record all non-conformances (environmental, medical aid, etc.);
- Conduct truck driver orientations, contractor training and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Provide expertise to HAZOP teams and participate in the overall site PSM program as required by the United States Occupational Safety and Health Act (U.S.: OSHA), Process Safety Management (PSM) Regulation: 29 CFR 1910.119.
- Responsible for participating in internal audits, providing information relevant to the audit and assisting in determining areas for improvement;
- Assist with plant turnaround, project planning and participate in the development of site specific procedures, project scope and work plans.
- Prepare equipment for maintenance following all process and safety procedures which include lock out / tag out, Personal Protective Equipment, Confined Space Entry and all environmental performance standards;
- Prepares equipment to be returned to service after maintenance following all Safety and Environmental procedures;
- Perform daily routine facility inspections to monitor and record operating parameters, identify problems and make the necessary changes after communication with the Superior Team Lead.
- Calibrate all meters monthly and enter accurate data on each calibration report and into each sites flow computer;
- Assist with maintenance of pumps, valves, meters, as well as calibration of gauges and transmitters as required. This may include preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Receives and clears ONE Call notifications.
Qualifications:
- Minimum High School graduate or equivalent required; with the ability to work a regular “on-call” 12-hour rotation;
- Maintaining permanent residency within 30 miles of the Superior Wi facility is a condition of employment
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to read plants P&ID's, Piping Schematics, Cause and Effect, or any other associated plant drawings.
- Previous experience in gas processing and/or field operations would be an asset;
- Self-motivated and energetic with effective written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong commitment to safety and environmental issues
- Strong computer and problem solving skills are an asset.
- Ability to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
