Position Overview:

The Plant Sanitation Manager is responsible for leading the implementation of the sanitation and water resource program throughout the manufacturing plant. The successful candidate provides leadership and direction to the entire plant, on all shifts, including receiving, production, sterilization, and packaging in cleaning processes including CIP, COP, and manual scrubbing. The Plant Sanitation Manager acts as the technical liaison between operations, management, government agencies and the chemical supplier.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures, oversees, and manages the process and execution of daily sanitation operations.
  • Maintains, oversees, and manages the process and execution of wastewater treatment
  • Maintains, oversee,s and manages the process and execution of RO water treatment
  • Assigns duties to sanitation and production staff.
  • Performs Pre-op and Post-op inspections.
  • Performs cleaning verification and validation programs to prove the effectiveness of the Sanitation program.
  • Performs environmental testing and chemical titrations.
  • Responsible for documentation of all sanitation programs.
  • Maintains and updates all sanitation databases and records.
  • Generates daily reports.
  • Maintains master sanitation schedule.
  • Enhances the master sanitation schedule and SSOPs in conjunction with the SQF Practitioner.
  • Manages the sanitation staff.
  • Hiring, employee development, and performance management.
  • Provides leadership and training to personnel performing sanitation procedures and chemical handling.
  • Coordinates corrective action/preventive action (CAPA) initiatives.
  • Develops and manages the department's chemical budget.
  • Maintains and organizes the chemical storage and sanitation supply areas.
  • Acts as a liaison between personnel and outside contractors.
  • Manages the pest control program.
  • Approves chemical usage to align with organic certification.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma required; higher education preferred.
  • Knowledge of sanitation requirements within the Dairy Industry.
  • 3 years of experience in a cross-functional role.
  • Certified Sanitarian or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, Microbiology, Sanitation, Chemical Safety, Pest Control and Quality systems.
  • Understand and comply with government regulations relating to OSHA, FDA, USDA, ODA and EPA.
  • Knowledge of Pasteurization and HTST equipment.
  • Proven ability to deliver results.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly personable and trustworthy.
  • Proficient in computer operations/Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to motivate staff about the importance of quality and sanitation.
  • Develop and present detailed spreadsheets of sanitation data.
  • Belief and ability to get staff buy in that Food Safety is everyone's job.

Hours, Location and Pay:

We offer a competitive base pay rate and comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees. This role works out of our Neenah, WI manufacturing facility. Hours are generally Monday – Friday standard business hours with the ability to work off hours as business needs require.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, hear, use hands to type data, use a personal computer and telephone. This employee may occasionally have to operate business machines and lift and/move up to 50 pounds.
