Job Description:
The 2nd Shift Plant Supervisor oversees production operations in a manufacturing facility during the second shift. This role is responsible for managing the production process, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, overseeing sanitation procedures, and coordinating maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical knowledge in food manufacturing, and a commitment to achieving production goals while maintaining high standards of quality and sanitation.Primary Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities:
  • Production Management:
    • Supervise and coordinate daily production activities on the second and third shift to meet production targets and quality standards.
    • Monitor production processes, equipment, and personnel to ensure efficient operation and adherence to established schedules.
    • Implement production adjustments as needed to optimize throughput, reduce waste, and meet performance objectives.
  • Sanitation and Quality Control:
    • Ensure all sanitation procedures and guidelines are followed, meeting or exceeding company standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct inspections of equipment, facilities, and work areas to maintain cleanliness and comply with safety and quality standards.
    • Work closely with quality assurance teams to address any quality concerns, perform regular product inspections, and maintain accurate documentation for audits.
  • Maintenance Coordination:
    • Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule and coordinate routine maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.
    • Identify potential equipment issues, report malfunctions, and assist in troubleshooting to ensure continuous operation of machinery.
    • Support maintenance staff in prioritizing repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Team Leadership and Training:
    • Lead and develop a team of production and sanitation employees, fostering a positive work environment and encouraging teamwork.
    • Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching to ensure adherence to operational, safety, and quality standards.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address disciplinary issues as needed to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to OSHA standards.
    • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, conduct investigations, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable food safety regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and FDA guidelines.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify areas for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency gains, and collaborate with other departments to implement best practices.
    • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to discuss production challenges, share feedback, and develop solutions.
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Food Science, or related field (or equivalent experience), preferred.
    • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role in a food or dry ingredient manufacturing environment.
    • Knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP, FDA) and sanitation best practices.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure to meet production goals.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and overtime as needed.
    • Bilingual a plus
    Working Conditions:
    • Physical demands include standing, walking up to 10 hours a day.
    • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
    • Exposure to industrial environments, including temperature fluctuations, dust, and noise.
