Job Description:
Job Overview: We are seeking a qualified PLC Programmer to join our client's electrical maintenance team. This role is crucial for maintaining, programming, and supporting PLC operation systems and processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine mechanics, a logical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work independently. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of electrical machines and systems within a union environment. Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop control programs for electrical machines and systems.
  • Diagnose faults and perform necessary maintenance.
  • Address and repair AC/DC circuits.
  • Develop and optimize PLC processes.
  • Visualize processes to ensure systems operate at full potential.
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver training to the team.
  • Coordinate and prioritize work to support production requirements.
  • Assist in scheduling and supporting hourly electricians performing maintenance tasks.
  • Plan work and ensure all necessary parts are available to support electrical maintenance tasks.
  • Provide continuous improvement design and development support for ongoing projects.
  • Perform any other tasks as directed by the Supervisor.
Requirements include:Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of validated experience and education.
Experience:
  • 3+ years of controls/PLC programming experience in an industrial production environment.
Skills:
  • Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming.
  • Strong proficiency in Allen Bradley Ladder logic programming for PLC5, SLC500, and ControlLogix.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, and procedures.
Certifications:
  • Knowledge of NEC and NFPA regulations related to electrical safety.
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of medium voltage and infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Wonderware.

  • Excellent problem-solving and logical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Work Environment: Union environment within an industrial production setting.
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal travel required.
