Job DescriptionJob Title: PLC Technician / Programmer, Impulse III Department: Service Reports To: Installation and Service Manager Location: Waterloo/Cedar Falls Metropolitan area, Iowa Overview: We are seeking a PLC Tech/Controls Engineer for a dynamic and visible role within the company, ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment. While the role offers remote work flexibility, travel to customer sites is required to meet project goals. This position involves collaborating with customers, suppliers, engineering, and management to ensure project objectives are achieved , such as cost, quality, and timelines. Additional responsibilities include offering service support via phone or email and working closely with the management team to meet project standards. Responsibilities:
  • Travel to customer sites to provide hands-on support
  • Complete company required expense, daily reports
  • Install plant controls, PLC, motors, electrical components
  • Commissioning of plant. Some of this may be able to be completed remotely.
  • Train customer personnel on operation of plant equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues at existing plant sites
  • Supervise and perform wiring installations
  • Upgrade controls and systems at existing plants
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant field; formal training or schooling is beneficial
  • Strong knowledge of electrical controls and wiring principles and practices
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for conveying technical concepts effectively and working cooperatively with internal and external customers
  • Proficient technical writing skills for documentation and specification preparation
  • Demonstrates initiative in learning and applying new skills continuously
  • Ability to utilize internal and external resources, including suppliers and team members at various levels, to accomplish tasks
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, project management or the equivalent in specialized software
