Job DescriptionJob Title: PLC Maintenance TechnicianLocation:Hazleton, PAShift: 2nd ShiftTarget Pay Rate: $36/hr-$38/hrJob Description:The PLC Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all manufacturing equipment, including automated machinery such as robots and PLCs. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that equipment is running smoothly, minimizing downtime, and maintaining the highest standards of product quality. The technician will also perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, install new equipment, and maintain detailed documentation of electrical and control systems.Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment such as wrappers, mixers, motors, conveyors, and refrigeration systems.
- Install, program, and repair automated machinery and equipment (robots, PLCs).
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems.
- Install and connect power cables, switches, relays, and control apparatus.
- Monitor equipment to ensure excellent operating condition, conducting inspections and tests.
- Dismantle defective machines, replace or install new parts, and ensure systems are operational.
- Repair and maintain facility's hydraulic, pneumatic, and refrigeration systems.
- Maintain documentation for all electrical and control systems (hardware and software).
- Collaborate with and train other mechanics and technicians across shifts.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations, GMP, safety protocols, and company procedures.
- Perform repairs on production lines during equipment downtime.
- Maintain secondary systems such as steam, hot/chilled water, pneumatic air, HVAC, and emissions control.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or certificate in electrical, mechanical, or industrial automation preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in maintaining automated manufacturing equipment.
- Experience with full machine and electrical control system design, installation, and commissioning.
- Proficiency in Rockwell PLC and Drives; RS Logix and FactoryTalk View programming preferred.
- Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems is highly desirable.
- Experience in food manufacturing environments is a plus.
- Strong mechanical background in troubleshooting and repairing production systems (e.g., conveyors, gearboxes, clutches).
- Ability to work with electrical systems up to 480v 3 phase and interpret electrical drawings and P&IDs.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, welders, lathes, and drill presses.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and any required shift.
