The Position
Plumbers perform skilled plumbing work to maintain and repair plumbing systems, fixtures and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located At Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, NV. This position requires working with inmates in a prison setting. Incumbent will perform skilled plumbing work to maintain and repair plumbing systems, fixtures and equipment. Incumbent will respond to repair orders, prioritize, diagnose, estimate costs, acquire materials through purchase order system, make repairs, document time and material costs, implement a preventative maintenance schedule and perform maintenance as required, install water supply, waste, steam and gas lines and related fixtures and fittings in accordance with the applicable plumbing codes, review blueprints and design and lay-out plumbing systems, serve as lead worker and trainer for free staff and inmate crew in prison setting, assist contractors when required and other duties as assigned. Typical work shift is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Extended hours may be required on short notice in cases of emergency. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Completion of a recognized plumbing apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level plumbing experience; OR one year of experience as a Plumber I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
