Note: The normal starting pay for this position is the minimum of the pay range listed above. A higher rate of pay may be considered, dependent on the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant and/or the City's step placement policy.

Full-time City employees will receive preference in the following order: major division first, then department, then all other full-time City employees. This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019. JOB SUMMARY
This classification is located in various departments throughout the City of Oklahoma City. This posting will be used to fill a current vacancy in the Building Management Division of the General Services Department within the City of Oklahoma City. However, an eligibility list will be established or supplemented for filling future vacancies, including vacancies in other departments, per provisions of the AFSCME collective bargaining agreement. Tasks performed require journeyman skills and knowledge relevant to plumbing which have been acquired prior to assuming the job. Essential job functions include: installing, repairing and maintaining water, gas, steam, and other pipe systems. The employee performs work independently and is expected to keep accurate records and prepare written estimates of materials needed for various jobs. Assignments are received in the form of verbal instructions, blueprints, or written work orders. The Plumber may be required to act as lead person when working with other employees and has considerable information exchange with City personnel and outside vendors. Work is reviewed by the supervisor upon completion for conformity with established quality standards.

* Knowledge of plumbing fixtures, materials, and tools utilized for different types of applications.

* Possession of a valid Journeyman Plumbing License.*

WORKING CONDITIONS
* Frequently exposed to heat, cold, humidity and rain, etc.

* Will work from ladder approximately 15 feet above ground.
* Will work in confined or cramped positions while working in vent under bathroom to fix pipes.

* Exposed to steady loud noises due to machinery.
* Local travel on a daily basis.
Note: Typical City employee working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, working hours vary (may require work to begin before 8:00 a.m. and/or end beyond 5:00 p.m., and/or may require work on weekends and holidays), and are subject to change, based on the duties and location of the position and the business needs of the assigned work unit/department.

Note: An eligibility list will be established from this posting consisting of applicants who receive a score of 70 percent or better. Multiple selection procedures may be utilized; a minimum of 70 percent or better will be required on each; and the results of multiple selection procedures will be equally weighted.
